Roland C. "Butch" Buttgereit, 86, of Springdale, formerly of Oakmont, died Monday, April 2, 2012, at his residence. Born Nov. 27, 1925, in Oakmont, he was a son of the late Claude and Dorothy (Zebrine) Buttgereit. He was the beloved husband for 59 years of Shirley (Gahagen) Buttgereit; dear father of Cynthia (Denny McCartney) Titus, of Cheswick, Roland Claude (Darlene Hrabos) Buttgereit, of New Castle, and Diane (Frank) Bzorek, of Cheswick; grandfather of Janine (Bob) Murray, of Russellton, Heather (Tim) Simak, of Massachusetts, Jocelyn (Kurt) Latta, of New Castle, Courtney Titus, of Cheswick, and Gabrielle Buttgereit, of New Castle; great-grandfather of Devin, Avery and Jackson; and brother of Deloris (the late George) Diamond, of Saxonburg. Butch worked as an operating engineer for Lou Grant in Plum, served in the Army during World War II and enjoyed golfing. He was a member of the Verona Eagles and loved spending time with his family. Friends and relatives will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES INC., 421 Allegheny Ave., Oakmont. Funeral at noon Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Jonathan Naumann officiating. Interment will follow in Deer Creek Cemetery, Cheswick.
