Walter Scheneman, 91, lifelong Ft. Morgan resident, died Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at the Valley View Villa Care Center in Ft. Morgan.

He was born August 5, 1920, in Ft. Morgan to Adam and Elizabeth (Arndt) Scheneman.

Walter married Alma Geist on October 2, 1943 in Ft. Morgan.

He served his country in the United States Army during WWII and endured some very rough treatment at the hands of the Germans when he was taken prisoner.

Walter was a member of the Christ Congregational Church in Ft. Morgan and was also a member of the Elks Lodge, the VFW, American Legion and the Cattleman's Association. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and ranching. Walter loved spending time with all his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Alma of Ft. Morgan, daughters, Jeanne Howell and husband Harold of Ft. Morgan, Kathy Lindsey and husband Ben of Ft. Morgan, Sharon Pounds and husband Darrell of Ft. Morgan, ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister, Pauline and three brothers, Robert "Whitey" Scheneman, LeRoy "Red" Scheneman and Ronald Scheneman.

Funeral Services will be Monday, April 9, 2012 at 10:30 am at the Christ Congregational Church in Ft. Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens.
