He was one of 13 children; sadly mother died after birth of last child. The thirteen children are: Louis, Nickolas, Gottlieb, Katherine (August Nehls, Milw), Elizabeth, Louise, Jacob, Mary, Frieda (Charles Salaty, Milw), John (Changes last name to Walls, Chicago), Martha (John Uecke/Uecker, Hartford, WI), Christina and Frederick.
Louis passed away April 28, 1932 from a heart stroke at age 64. In 1916 he retired from farming and moved to 264 South Main Street in Hartford. He was a trustee of St. John's UCC and director on the School Board of Erin District #5. Last rites was held at the residence and Redeemer Lutheran Church & interment in Union Cemetery
