Arizona Centennial Observance-- (1912--2012)
Born in Chihuahua, Jose de la Luz Blanco joined the Madero revolutionaries in 1910 and was a very able assistant to Madero in Chihuahua. He became a commanding general under Francisco Madero and General Pancho Villa. Jose led Maderista revolutionary forces against the federal garrisons in northern Sonora in 1910 and 1911. He was the commnader of all revolutionary forces for attacks on the border in Sonora and in the interior areas of the central portion of the state. He was successful in capturing Agua Prieta in April 1911. Gen. Jose de la Luz Blanco was later executed in Chihuahua.
