Edward "Ed E." Bender was the son of Adam and Mary (Funk) Bender and was born June 23, 1909 in Russell, KS. He departed this life on Feb. 14, 1999, at his home in Russell. His age was 89 years and 8 months.
Ed E. was one of eleven children. He attended rural school and grew up on the family farm. Ed was united in marriage to Mae Eberle on Aug. 4, 1932. To this union a son was born, Edward A. Bender. Ed E. and Mae were engaged in farming in the Russell area. Ed's hobbies included fishing, hunting and playing pool with his friends at the Russell Senior Center.
To remember and treasure his memory are his wife Mae of the home; 2 grandchildren: Cindy Vratil of Midland, TX; and Steve Bender of El Reno, OK; 6 gt. grandchildren: Jason, Erica, Victoria, Joshua, Brittany and Christine; one brother, Bennie Bender of Russell; 2 sisters, Francis Papitsky of CA; and Bertha Schultheheiss of CA. Ed was preceded in death by his son, Edward A., 4 brothers & 3 sisters.
