Funeral for former Yamhill resident Reba Moore Goodale of Milwaukie was held Saturday in the Canby Funeral Chapel. Private interment was in Zion Memorial Cemetery.

She died May 19, 2004, in a Milwaukie care center. She was 94.

She was born Aug. 11, 1909, in Union, Mo., daughter of Allen R. and Helen Bruns Moore. She graduated from high school in Mount Vernon, Wash., and received her teaching license from Bellingham Normal School. She taught in the Mount Vernon area during the school year and traveled to Los Angeles during summers to complete her bachelor's degree.

It was during such a trip she met her future husband, Ken Goodale. They married April 4, 1936, after a brief courtship.

The Goodales lived in California a short time, then relocated to the Northwest to be closer to her family. About 1952, the Goodales moved to Yamhill, and she taught elementary classes and music in various schools in the Yamhill area.

Mrs. Goodale received her master's in education degree in 1956 from Linfield College in McMinnville. She taught briefly at the college.

In 1964, the Goodales moved to Canby and lived there until 1989, when they moved to a Milwaukie retirement community. Her husband preceded her in death in 1992.

She attended Tabor Heights United Methodist Church with her daughter Sally and was active in the retirement community. She was involved with music all of her life and took pleasure in combining it with her faith. She also enjoyed spending time with her daughter and grandsons, attending family reunions and returning to Mount Vernon and talking about her childhood years there.

Survivors include her daughter, Sally Jo Schenk of Milwaukie; her brother, Glenn Moore of Bremerton, Wash.; and grandsons, Erik Schenk and Matthew Schenk, both of Milwaukie, and Christopher Schenk of Long Beach, Calif.

Memorial contributions may be made to Rose Villa Foundation, 13505 S.E. River Road, Milwaukie, OR 97222 and to Tabor Heights United Methodist Church, 6161 S.E. Start Road, Portland, OR 97215.
