Raymond Alexander Voos, son of Jacob and Eva Elizabeth (Rein) Voos, was born Sept. 24, 1914, in Russell County, KS. His death occurred on June 18, 1985, at St. Anthony
Hospital, Hays, KS at the age of 70 years, 8 months, and 24 days.

Raymond lived most of his early life on the family farm north of Russell, received his basic education in the rural school near the family home, and married Verna Lois Hubbs April 3, 1937, at Russell, KS.

Much of his working life was lived in Russell, where he was an oil field worker. He worked for Dave Galyardt, R.C. Williams, and later for A.B. Sutcliffe. He did general labor or roustabout work for many years. He moved to Kimball, NE where he later owned his own roust-a-bout service, Ray's Roustabout Service.

After he retired from active work, he and his wife, Lois, returned to Russell to make their home in September of 1980. During the past several months, his health failed, and he was hospitalized several times.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Russell.

Those who preceded him in death were his parents, and a number of brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Verna Lois of the home; brother, Jacob L. Voos, Hoisington, KS; three sisters: Eva Foos and Ida Galyardt, both of Great Bend, KS; Martha Foos, Russell, KS; several other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral June 21, 1985 at Pohlman's Memoryial Chapel, Russell, with Father James Grennam officiating. Burial in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Russell, KS.
