Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Lundberg's L.B. Hall Funeral Home, with Austin Patty, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens. Lundberg's L.B. Hall Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Hies was born on Dec. 21, 1905, in Hamburg, Germany. On Jan. 2, 1935, in New York, she married Thomas Hies, who died in 1985. She moved to Grants Pass from Long Island, N.Y., in 1948.
Hies enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles, gardening, traveling, missionary work, helping the poor and Christian music.
Survivors include two daughters, Roswitha Hies and Irmingard Patty, both of Grants Pass; and three grandsons, Austin Patty and Jonathan Patty, both of New York, and Andrew Patty of Eugene.
