Daughter of Porter J. & Elizabeth Knippling Barnes

Grace Catherine LaCrosse, 101, of La Porte City, died Monday at La Porte City Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born March 15, 1911, in Waterloo, the daughter of Porter J. and Elizabeth Knippling Barnes. She married Francis LaCrosse on June 11, 1935, in Waterloo. He died October 19, 1995.

Grace was employed with Hinson Manufactoring for 30 years.

Survivors include: a son, Jerry (Karen) of Waterloo; a daughter, Mary (Gene) Becker of Apache Junction AZ; 4 grandchildren, Michelle (Tim) Way of Hudson, Scott (Kim) LaCrosse of Lowden, N.H., Janean (Jeff) Craig of Hudson, and Rennae (Tony) Heiple of Madison, N.J.; 10 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: two brothers, John Barnes and Robert Barnes; a grandson, Craig Becker.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation from 4-6 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary. Visitation also one hour prior to services Friday at the church.

Grace was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and had a passion for chocolate. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
