OBIT- 28 May 2005 WAUKESHA FREEMAN, Waukesha, Waukesha Co, Wisconsin
Barbara Juanita Wood Kalweit, of Oconomowoc, passed away Wednesday, 25 May 2005, at age 83.
Barbara was born in her grandmother’s home on South Main Street in Oconomowoc on 17 December 1922, the daughter of Albert Wood and Jennie Fetkenhaur Wood. She graduated from Oconomowoc High School in 1940, just like her father did years before.
She married Raymond George Kalweit on 21 June 1941, and for three years Raymond was in the service, stationed at Pearl Harbor. During that time she took a job in Milwaukee at a war plant, Lee Engineering.
When Raymond returned home after the war they had two sons, Raymond Jr. and Gerry. When the boys were growing up and participating in Boy Scouts, Barbara served as a Cub Scout den mother. When the boys were in high school, she took a job at Musebeck Shoe Company in Oconomowoc. She retired after 19 years of service to take care of her husband, who was of ill health. Raymond suffered a heart attack and died in March of 1991.
Barbara stayed in the old homestead from 1991 through 1999, until complications from diabetes forced her to spend some time at Hartford Health Care Center. After rehabilitation, she returned to the old homestead and enjoyed what she seemed to love best: watching TV and movies from her VCR. Also, there were her soaps that she watched, as well as Oprah and Jerry Springer. In June of last year she moved to the Hartford Health Care Center.
Barbara is lovingly survived by her sons; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her sister, Margaruite "Peggy" (George) Rosecky of Wauwatosa, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Raymond, in 1991.
