Doris Aline Hussmann passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at the age of 89. She was a resident of El Paso since 1970. Doris was born on August 10, 1922 in Kansas City, Missouri. She grew up there and in Omaha, Nebraska before moving to Los Angeles as a teenager where she graduated from high school and business school. She eventually moved to El Paso and met her future husband, Harry L. Hussmann III to whom she was married for 49 years until his death in 1999. Doris and Harry moved all over the country for the 20 years he served as a Navy pilot. They never lived in one place longer than 18 months during his military career until he retired in El Paso in 1970. Doris was a very loving person who always had a kind word for everyone. She was very devoted to her family. She never met a stranger and was able to engage everyone she met in conversation with genuine interest. She also loved travel, beautiful scenery, dogs and reading. She considered the staff at Monte Vista where she resided to be her extended family and friends and we are thankful for the good care she received there.
Mrs. Hussmann was preceded in death by her husband Harry and her son Tommy Hussmann. She is survived by her daughter June Peterson (Bill); and son Steven Hussmann(Annette) of Fredericksburg, Virginia. She is also survived by two grandchildren: Robin Stephens (Harold) of Ft.Worth, Tx. and Matthew Hussmann of Fredericksburg,Va.; as well as two great-grandchildren: Carlee and Kaitlynn Stephens.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 30 at 10:00 a.m. at Harding-Orr and McDaniel Funeral Home; 320 Montana Avenue. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made if desired to Animal Rescue of El Paso or the Humane Society of El Paso.
