Harriet J. Henseleit Utzinger, 76, of N2387 Cardinal Lane, Oostburg, passed away on Thursday evening, May 4, 2000.
Harriet was born on Jan. 5, 1924, in Whitewater, WI, a daughter of the late William M. and Lillian Schultz Underhill. She attended St. Paul Lutheran School and graduated from North High School.
On Sept. 28, 1946, she married Reuben G. Henseleit in Sheboygan. He preceded her in death on July 29, 1977. She married Charles A. Utzinger on Nov. 23, 1985 in Sheboygan, and he preceded her in death on March 8, 1999.
Harriet worked in various offices of the Sheboygan County Courthouse, including the Treasurer's Office, Clerk of Courts, and the Sheriff's Dept. At age 47, she graduated from Spencerian College in Milwaukee and was then court reporter for Judge John Bolgert for 12 years. Following her retirement, she was a receptionist for Catholic Social Services.
Harriet was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church where she served on various groups, especially the Quilters' Guild and Ladies Guild. She was a volunteer at Sunny Ridge and a member of the Auxiliary of which she was a past treasurer. She was also a member of the Riverdale 9-Hole Golf League, the East Holland Citizens League, the Sheboygan Co. Historical Society, the Sheboygan Co. Quilters Guild and the Variable Star Quilt Club serving as the club rep this past year.
Harriet is survived by her two daughters: Donna (Thomas) Laack of Sheboygan, and Shelley (Donald ) Krause of Hartford; five grandchildren: Darci Laack, Amy (Scott) Barton, Ryan, Kristen and Kari Krause; her sister: Marion Prinz of Sheboygan; her brother: Charles (Carol) Underhill of Sheboygan Falls; further survived by three step-children: David (Pat) Utzinger of Evanston, IL, Stephen (Nan) Utzinger of Mequon, and Kristin (Joseph) Maniaci of Oostburg; four step-grandchildren: Heather, Alicia, and Christine Utzinger, and Beth Raabe; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 11am on on Monday, May 8, 2000 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Park in the Town of Sheboygan.
