Douglas had been employed as a sales engineer with Q-Comp in Appleton. Among his many activities, he was a member of a ski club, bike club and enjoyed volunteering his time for the handicapped.
Survivors include his children, Amy Rutz, Milwaukee, Brian Rutz, Levenworth, KS, his mother, Dorothy Rutz, Wausau, siblings, Mary (Mark) Ventzke, Keith Rutz, all of Wausau, Tom (Sue) Rutz, Stanford, CT, Karen Rutz, Stevens Point, Kathy (Dewey) Lannigan, Aniwa, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Simon "Sammy" Rutz.
