Karl J. Baessler

Karl J. Baessler was born April 16, 1887, in Humboldt Township five miles southeast of Livermore. He attended the rural schools then went to Humboldt College in 1906-1907. In the fall of 1907, he went to South Dakota. he taught there three years then west to North Dakota for two years. Karl enlisted in the Navy in April, 1918 and served through 1919. Back home, he took the census of 1920 for Grove Township. He then took the Rural Mail Route for the next three years. In May, 1923, he was appointed Post Master where he served for fifteen years. After that he farmed until he retired in 1977. Karl died January 3, 1994.
