Irene T. Colbert, also known as "Mary" is my Great-grandmother. Her real name is Irene Theo Burton, born in Crawford County, IL to David G Burton, and Stella Theo Shryhawk. I believe that is how you spell it... She had two sisters, Gleo & Lucile Burton. She married my Great-grandfather Otis Elbert Benefiel, and had two boys... Freddie Lee Benifiel [My Grandfather] and James W Benefiel. My Grandfather passed away 01FEB1993 of a heart attack, cause by an infection in his leg. He is now buried at Mount Lebanon Cemetery in St. Ann, MO. James W. Benefiel died 30NOV1950 as a P.O.W. in the Korean War. We do not know where he is actually buried, since Otis had moved his body, for what ever reason.
After Otis and Irene divorced, she moved up to Chicago, IL. She became Catholic, and took on the name "Mary" Irene Colbert, before coming here to St. Louis, MO.
