Marlin "Mike" O. Bartel, 90, of 1810 Elm Avenue, passed away Friday morning, July 1, 2011 at Sunny Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born May 15, 1921 in West Bend, Marlin was a son of the late Frank and Ida Holtz Bartel. He attended Beechwood Public Schools and Immanuel Lutheran School. He went on to serve his country in the

U.S. Navy as a Seabee during W.W.II. On June 14, 1947, he was united in marriage to Martha E. Blauert at Zion Lutheran Church in Morrison, WI.

Mike worked at Hi-Lite for 31 years, retiring as a foreman in 1986. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and a former member of the American Legion, Post 83. He enjoyed going for walks, fishing and playing Sheepshead.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Martha; his children, Robert, Sheboygan, Jeanne (Jeffrey) Andersen, Sheboygan, David (Rosie), Chilton, and Paul (Paula), Stevens Point; eight grandchildren, Shawn (Monica) Mathes, Chad (Abby) Mathes, Beverly Bartel, Sandy Bartel, Steven Bartel, all of Sheboygan, Chris (Michelle) Bartel, Chilton, Richard (Heather) Bartel, Mesa, AZ, and Michele (Larry) Lyons, Chilton; a step-grandson, James Andersen, Sheboygan; ten great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Oscar, Arno, Frank, Herbert, Laymond and Lester; four sisters, Elva Piering, Lenora Witt, Evelyn Kempf and Clara Kempf; and his daughter-in-law, Laura Bartel.

Funeral services for Mike took place on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, in Sheboygan. The Rev. James Hartman, pastor, will officiated. Interment took place on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Greenlawn Memorial Park with full Military Honors.
