Michael Stubenrauch, 87, of Sheboygan, pioneer carpenter contractor in this city, passed away Thursday at the Sheboygan Memorial Hospital.
Born in Sheboygan Falls on April 6, 1865, a son of the late Mr & Mrs John Stubenrauch.
On June 6, 1890 he was married to Pauline Koepke in Sheboygan and they always made their home here. His wife preceded him in death in May 1935.
Possessing a genial personality, Mr Stubenrauch, known as "Grandpa Stubenrauch" by the neighborhood children, enjoyed a host of friends. He was still very active, driving his own car and enjoying reading and working in his garden. A pioneer carpenter contractor, he had built many, many homes in this city.
He was a charter member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and has always been a faithful member of that church. He was also a member of the Master Builders. He retired from contracting seven years ago.
Survivors are a son Edgar of this city; two daughters, Mrs Rudi (Norma) Minster of this city and Mrs Adolph (Anita) Mallmann of Kohler; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. One child passed away in infancy.
Funeral services were held at Nickel's Funeral Home with the Rev H J Bouman of Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Interment was in Lutheran Cemetery.
