Ruth Clara Hummel, 83, of Allison, Iowa, passed away June 7, 2005, at the Allison Health Care Center in Allison, Iowa. She was born June 18, 1921, in Allison, Iowa, to William & Clara (Renning) Allan. Ruth graduated from the Allison High school and attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She married Russell D. Hummel on July 18, 1943 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Ruth worked as a farm wife and taught school in country schools and was a teacher's aide in the Allison-Bristow Schools. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, a member of the Allison AmVets Auxiliary, she was involved in many women's church groups. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed going to their ball games and activities. Ruth also liked baking cookies and gardening. She is survived by her son Bill & wife Deb Hummel of Allison, son Dave & wife Kim Hummel of Cedar Falls; grandchildren: Amy Siemens, Greg Hummel, Megan Seehusen, Brandon Hummel, Jarren Hummel, Morgan Hummel; great grandchildren: Kenzie and Kayla Siemens, Parker Seehusen, and Landon Hummel. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband Russell, six brothers and four sisters. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 10, 2005 at the St. James Lutheran Church in Allison with Rev. Jeffrey A. Blank officiating. Special music was provided by organist, Mrs. Cecil Radcliffe accompanying the congregational singing. The flower committee was Ron & Delores Allan. Pallbearers were Bill Burma, Steve Allan, Greg Hummel, Shawn Siemens, Brandon Hummel, Jarren Hummel. Honorary pallbearers were Emery Dickman, Jim Oltmann, Bill Jacobs, Jerald Heeren and Darwin Wubbena. Final resting place was in the Allison Cemetery with Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
