He was born May 19, 1954 in Manistee, the son of the late Stanley and Lucille (Zielinski) Kott. He was an employee at Morton Salt Company for over 30 years. Tom was also a graduate of Manistee Catholic Central, Class of 1972.
Tom is survived by his life partner, Faye Kott of Manistee, his daughter, Jillian Kott (Eric Pefley) of Manistee; his step-children, Amanda Engstrom (fiancé Josh Robart) of Whitehall and Jason Fortier (Heather Somsel) of Hastings; step-grandchildren, Haley, Addison and Avery Fortier of Hastings; brothers, James (Carol) Kott of Manistee and Richard (Sally) Kott of Utica, his sisters Joyce (Robert) Radke of Manistee and Patricia (Ralph) Bishop of Utica; his best, four-legged friend ‘Mickey' and by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother Jerry Kott and by his sister, Elaine Hagadone.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held Tuesday afternoon, May 15th at 2:00 p.m. at the Lion's Shelter at First Street Beach in Manistee, Michigan. Final interment will be in Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery, also in Manistee.
The family suggests that those wanting to remember Tom consider a gift in his memory to Manistee County Humane Society.
Tom was a great man and loving father. He will live on forever in the hearts of those who love him.
