Son of Cyril and Anna (Heiman) Huelsmann. He married Florence Wilke on July 26, 1960 at St. Rose IL. After graduating from Aviston High School, he continued his formal education by attending Southern Illinois University at Carbondale IL and acquiring a Bachelor's Degree. Upon graduation from college, he taught business courses at Assumption High School in East St. Louis IL for a few years before entering federal government service as an Air Force civilian employee. He worked in the Comptroller Directorate, Transportation Working Capital Funds Division, as a budget analyst at Headquarters Air Mobility Command (AMC), Scott Air Force Base IL where he was primarily responsible for developing the billing rates for AMC's military aircraft that move passengers and cargo worldwide for the Department of Defense. He retired in 1993, accumulating over 30 years of federal employment. He loved working outdoors with his many projects at his rural "country estate" (as he commonly referred to it) over the years, including his garden, of which he was very proud. He enjoyed playing cards as well, especially bridge, euchre, and poker. He also raised exotic animals like llamas and fallow deer.
