Mrs. Chriss Kruckenberg, Died on June 2, Services in Local Church Buried in Rockwell.
Ms. Chris (Dena Abbas) Kruckenberg, 57, died in Mercy Hospital at Mason City on Wednesday, June 2, from a lingering illness. She has recently been a surgical patient in the hospital four weeks returning home Wednesday, May 19 and was readmitted to the hospital the fore- part of last week.
Funeral services were held Saturday June 5, at 2;00 p.m. in the Zion-St John Lutheran Church at Sheffield with Palmer Loken, pastor, officiating, Mrs. Max Bokmeyer was organist, Orville Witte, the soloist sang, "How Great Thou Art" and "O Take My Hand Dear Father". Flowers were cared for by Mrs. Karl Lubkeman and Miss Irene Witte. Burial was in the Rockwell cemetery under the direction of the Wartnaby-Grarup Funeral Home. Pallbearer were Edward Abbas, Dr. Lyle Abbas, E. O. Dannen, George Proctor, Arnold Oltmann, and Engel
Dannen.
Mrs. Chriss Kruckenberg, nee Berhardina Abbas, was born Sept. 19, 1907, to Mrs. and Mrs. Engle Abbas in Marion Township, Franklin Co., Iowa. She was baptized in Zion Reformed church on Nov. 17, 1907, and attended Franklin county schools. She was married on March 3, 1927, to Chriss G. Krunckenberg in St. John Lutheran Church at Sheffield. She was an active member of Zion-St. John Lutheran Church, the ALCW Circles. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxillary.
Surviving are her husband Chris, four sons, Willis of Stanley, Melvin, Donald and David of Rockwell; her mother, Mrs. Mary Abbas of Latimer; 12 grandchildren, 4 sisters, Mrs. Mattie Dannen of Swaledale, Mrs. Grace Oltmann of Latimer, Mrs. Marie Corporan of Hampton and Gertie Menning of Latimer; and two brothers, John Abbas of Latimer and Henry Abbas of Hampton.
She was preceded in death by her father, Engle Abbas; two brothers, Walter and Bernhard, and one granddaughter, Jean Ann Kruckenberg.
