He was raised on the farm near Tolstoy, South Dakota until he graduated from high school in 1967. Richard moved to Aberdeen, South Dakota to attend college where he met Barbara Ann Rosin and they were united in marriage on May 29, 1969. In 1976 Rich and Barb moved to Winner, SD where they lived until their deaths.
Richard enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins and Chicago Bears, collecting toy tractors, working on model trains, spending time with his grandchildren and tending to his lawn and garden.
He is survived by his children Darin (Wendy), Michael, Lynn (Thomas) Padmore, David (Natalie), and Amy (Adam) Humphrey. Siblings Janice (Marion) Herd, Lyle Stotz, Rodney (Bonnie) Stotz, and Victor (Sue) Stotz. Grandchildren Eva and Andrew Stotz; Dylan, Cayden, and Alexis Padmore; Talon and Kylie Humphrey.
He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara, his parents Otto and Marie, a sister Donna and a brother LaRoy Stotz.
