"The Division Commander cites with pride the conduct in battle of the following named officers and soldiers: George W Engelking, corporal, Battery B, 77th Field Artillery, October 9, 1918, Septsarges. He set an example of bravery and devotion to duty to the other members of the battery. At the time of his death, he was carrying ammunition to battery during heavy shelling by the enemy"....... By command of Major General Hershey.  Battles: Chateau-Thierry, St. Mihiel, Argonne Forest. Killed in action October 9, 1918.
