Funeral services and Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 24, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 916 E. Rusholme St., Davenport. Military honors will follow, presented by the American Legion Post No. 26 in Davenport. Visitation will be Thursday in the church gathering space from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial is scheduled for 12 noon on Friday at Holy Cross Cemetery in Merna, Ill. Weerts Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Senior Star Life Enrichment Fund, 4502 Elmore Ave., Davenport, IA 52807.
Richard was born in 1927 in Alton, Ill., the son of Henry and Norine Koehne.
He was united in marriage to Mary Merna on July 22, 1950, in Peoria, Ill. She preceded him in death on Nov. 29, 1997.
He served in the Navy from 1945 to 1948. He worked 31 years as an office manager at the former CECO Corporation in Bartonville, Ill. He was a third degree Knights of Columbus, Archbishop Schlarman Council No. 3507, in Pekin. Boog enjoyed watching all sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals.
Survivors include his children, Dick (Margaret) Koehne, Bob Koehne, Jack (Wendy) Koehne, Dan (Nancy) Koehne, David (Yvonne) Koehne, Mary (Terry) Gahagan and Julie (Rick) Davenport; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
"Our family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the staff at Senior Star, especially those who staff the memory care unit. You gave Dad so much love and dignity during his stay with you. Your work is difficult, but your spirit is immeasurable. We love you for what you gave to him."
