F. Nada Selich, passed into the light on June 26, 2004, in San Jose, CA. Wife of the late Jack Selich, mother of Nada Joy, grandmother of Franceska Michele Gleason Huggins and Viktoria Nedelka Gleason and grandmother-in-law of Michael Thomas Huggins. Born in Vis, Croatia in 1914, Franceska Nedelka Tomic arrived in this country in 1924 with her mother, Antica, following the deaths of her father and brother in the European influenza epidemic of 1918. After staying briefly with relatives in Portland, mother and daughter settled in San Francisco where Nada later reminisced of fun times spent at Fleishhacker's Swimming Pool, grocery shopping in Chinatown with her mother, picnics at Naperdak Hall and the friends she made while attending Balboa High. At 20 she married Jack Steve Selich and the couple moved to San Jose. After settling in Santa Clara, they started a family. Always artistic, Nada passed her talents in painting, sewing, and cooking on to her grandchildren. An avid traveler, she often fondly recalled trips to Catalina Island, Hawaii, Australia and the South Pacific, a host of European countries including her native Croatia, and Alaska, a favorite in her later years. Funeral Mass and Christian burial on July 6th, at Saint Mary of the Assumption Croatian Catholic Church, Willow Glen. Inurnment at the Santa Clara Mission Cemetery. LIMA FAMILY SANTA CLARA.
