Earl Paul Stender, 90, of Rochester, died Monday, May 21, 2012 in Rochester.

Earl was born Feb. 11, 1922, in Mayer, to Adolf and Emma (Muelich) Stender. He moved with his family to Antigo, Wis., Lincoln, Neb., and then to Rochester when he was 17. On June 18, 1942, he married Doreen Parker at the Christ United Methodist Church in Rochester. She passed away in 1992. Earl was a plant manager and a safety manager at Rochester Dairy/AMPI. He retired after 47 years.

He was a member of the Peace United Church of Christ and served the church council there. Earl was also on the Samaritan Bethany Board, and was a member of the PTA at Northrop Elementary School.

Earl is survived by his children, Susan (Vernon) Schwanke of Watertown, Michael (Shirley) Stender of Rochester, Julie Timmerman of Rochester, Linda Bradley of Rochester and Ellen (Lloyd Schultz) Stender of Faribault; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Genevieve Brown.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Doreen; an infant son, Jeffrey Paul; and a sister, Luverne Borchart.

The funeral service for Earl will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 25, at Peace United Church of Christ in Rochester, with visitation from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church, also on Friday. Pastor Paul Bauch will officiate. A private interment at Oakwood Cemetery will be held at a later date.

Memorials are preferred to Peace United Church of Christ or Samaritan Bethany Foundation.
