Jeanette Katherine (Kasemaker) McClellan was born in Todd County to Fred and Margaret (Tschida) Kasemaker. She lived in Osakis into her teen years and then moved to Alexandria attending the 9th grade. After school she worked candling eggs for North American.

Jeanette met her husband Lyle McClellan and the couple was married in Portland, Oregon on September 24, 1946 where she became a homemaker. They lived in Oregon a short time before moving back to Alexandria MN. Jeanette worked at Bethany Home in Alexandria for over 20 years. Her hobbies were "cleaning Lyle's fish catch", playing cards, baking, and embroidery. She enjoyed time drinking coffee with the neighbor ladies. There was never a time when you would visit Jeanette without having one of her many delicious homemade desserts. Jeanette loved the outdoors – planting flowers, gardening and riding her favorite John Deere lawn mower. She also had a passion for feeding the birds, deer, turkeys, and watching all the wildlife, right outside her kitchen window.
