She was born July 24, 1919, in Seward, to Henry H. "Hank" and Florence M. Mullen Schilling. She graduated from Radium High School in 1937.
On Sept. 27, 1941, she married Clyde E. Beard in Lyons. He died March 27, 1999. She also was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Homer and Gail; and a sister, Alline.
A Ulysses resident since 1965, Mrs. Beard was a secretary and bookkeeper for Houck Brothers for many years.¬
Survivors include a son, Gardell Beard of Ulysses; a daughter, Denise Beard of Kansas City, Mo.; a brother, Vernon Schilling of Stafford; a granddaughter; and a great-granddaughter.¬
A memorial service will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses. Graveside service will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Stafford Cemetery in Stafford.
Visitation hours are 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church of Ulysses, Grant County Scholarship Foundation or American Cancer Society, all in care of the funeral home, 405 W.
