Michael enlisted in the Marines 13 June 1967, at a recruiting office in Helena, Montana.
Upon arriving in Vietnam 29 November 1967, he was assigned to Golf Company, 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. Michael died as a result of a gunshot wound to the body, during an engagement against enemy forces, at Bridge 28 on Hwy QL-9 and 7 kilometers southwest of Ca Lu Airfield.
Michael was single and served his country for 10 months and 7 days.
Survived by his parents, Lee E and Ruth Padilla, of 1405 2nd Avenue North, Billings, Montana.
