CLAY CENTER-- Loretta Parry, 97, died Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Hanover Hospital, Hanover.

Mrs. Parry was born Nov. 18, 1914, in Dickinson County, Kan., the daughter of John and Arletta Erma (Baldwin) Gonser.

Loretta attended school in Idana. She married Lloyd Parry on May 20, 1934 at Idana and the couple moved to Clay Center when he retired in 1984. Lloyd preceded her in death on Sept. 26, 1994.

Loretta was a member of the Idana Presbyterian Church, Animas Club and the Westside Kitchen Band. She was a Brownie Scout leader, a Boy Scout leader and was active in PTA. She was also preceded in death by an infant child, five sisters, and three brothers.

Survivors include one daughter, Karen Rettig and husband Ed of Hanover; two sons, Linn Parry and wife Rhonda of Manhattan and John Parry and wife Vicki of Kansas City, Mo.; grandchildren, Julie (Scott) Jueneman, Ellen (Steve) Yarber, Kent (Rhonda) Rettig, Kurt Rettig, Lisa (Matt) Manning, Tana Parry and Taylor Parry; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 15, at the First Presbyterian Church, Clay Center, with the Rev. James Byers officiating. Burial will be in Idana Cemetery, Idana. Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Idana Presbyterian Church or to Hanover Longterm Care and may be sent in care of the funeral home, 918 7th St., Clay Center, KS 67432.
