John Patrick Studer, son of Magnus and Gertrude (Wagner) Studer, was born October 9, 1924 in Mallard, Iowa. He received his education in the Mallard school system.

On March 4, 1946, John was united in marriage to Lois Marie Krug at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mallard. Later that month, John joined the United States Army, and he was honorably discharged two years later.

John and Lois moved to Graettinger in January of 1951 where John farmed and was a self-employed electrician.

John had many hobbies in his life. He loved hunting, fishing and playing cards. He raced motorcycles, rode snowmobiles and flew model airplanes. He enjoyed ham radios, but more than anything, John cherished the time he spent surrounded by his family.

On Tuesday, June 12, 2012, John passed away at his home at the age of 87.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Lois of Graettinger; four children: Gene Studer (Lauri), Karen Anderson (Wayne) and Sue McCain all of Graettinger and Gerald Studer (Lori) of Denison, Iowa.; brother, Bob Studer (Margaret) of Havelock, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: August, Alf, Magnus and George and two sisters: Mary Studer and Delores Shirk.
