Ricky Blevins, age 54, of Heidrick, died Sunday, May 22, 2011 in the Knox County Hospital. He was a son of the late J. D. and Nannie "Big Mommy" (Abner) Blevins, born to them on November 7, 1956 in Heidrick.

Ricky was working for Kay & Kay Contracting as a Foreman and Heavy Equipment Operator, having worked for them over 20 years; he also had worked for Blevins Contracting for over 16 years; and was a member of the Locust Grove Baptist Church.

On December 24, 1976, he united in marriage to Novella Bond, and to this union a son: Donrick, and a daughter: Jessica were born. Ricky and Novella were married for over 32 years. Along with his parents, he was preceded by a brother: Ray Blevins, two brothers-in-law: Frank Merida and Johnny Root, and by his niece: Lynn.

Ricky is survived by his loving family: Former wife: Novella Blevins Epperson of Heidrick. His son: Donrick Blevins of Heidrick. His daughter: Jessica Penn and husband, Jason; and his granddaughter: Mollie Kayte Penn of Frankfort, Kentucky. His four sisters: Faye Hammons and husband, Don; and Claudia Sue Merida both of Heidrick; Brenda Root of Girdler; and Jennifer Cobb and husband, Robert of Barbourville. His five brothers: Don Blevins and wife, Kay of Bimble; Burchell Blevins and wife, Rita and Ersel Wayne Blevins and wife, Ruth both of Artemus; Gary Blevins and wife, Kathy of Barbourville; and Sidney Blevins and wife, Loretta of Heidrick. A host of nieces and nephews; a very close friend: Doug Johnson of Bailey Switch; a special friend: Pam Patterson of Harrogate, Tennessee; and his former father-in-law and mother-in-law: Novel and Clara Bond of Barbourville; and a brother-in-law: Wendell Bond and wife, Dorene of Walker; and many other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral Services for Ricky Blevins will be conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Jeffrey Branum, Rev. Tommy Frazier, and Rev. Donnie "Duke" Hammons officiating. Burial will follow in the Ricky Blevins Cemetery at Heidrick. Those serving as Pallbearers will be the Nephews of Ricky. Those serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be: Doug Johnson, Wendell Bond, James Martin, Paul Baker, Rick Russ, Tony Callebs, David Hacker, Johnny Brill, Jerry Epperson, Bill Robinson and all employees of Kay & Kay Contracting.

Hopper Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.

The Blevins family will receive friends after 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at the Hopper Funeral Home, and after 9:00 A.M. on Thursday until the funeral hour.
