Sarah was the daughter of Revolutionary War soldier, Samuel Moore or Chester Co, PA, & Anne Doane Moore, also of Pennsylvania. According to family, her parents are buried in Hopewell Cemetery, Montgomery, Hamilton Co, Ohio.

Sarah was apparently a regular church member as she officially transferred her membership when moving from Ohio to Indiana and back to Ohio.

The place of Sarah's birth was listed as Pennsylvania in the 1850 census and as New Jersey in the 1860 and 1870 census records.

In the 1860 census Sarah, age 68 born New Jersey, lived in Vernon Twp, Jennings Co, Indiana with her son, Moses, and next door, probably on the same land, to her son Ebenezer and family. Sarah's property was valued at $2500, and Ebenezer was not listed as owning property, so they were probably on his mother’s land.

In 1870 Jennings Co, Indiana, Vernon Twp, Sarah was living with her son Samuel and his family, along with son, Moses

In 1871 Sarah returned to Montgomery, Ohio. The Montgomery Presbyterian Church records for 3 Aug 1871. " Mrs. Sarah Crist was received on certificate from the Vernon Church of Ind." In the 5 Dec 1874 church records it states "Certificates were granted to Mrs. Sarah Crist and Mrs. Eliza Monce, the former to unite with the Lockland Church...." She was probably living with son Ebanezer. In 1880 Ebenezer was living in or near Reading. Lockland is about five miles due West of Montgomery, and is now the Reading-Lockland Presbyterian Church.

By 1876 Sarah was back in Indiana. The Vernon Banner newspaper wrote "Mrs. Sarah Crist, mother of Samuel Crist died on February 1, 1876. 86 years of age. Bur: Baldwin Cemetery on Feb 3, 1876". No original headstone has been found.

In addition to linked children, they had:
Ann Moore Crist, d.12 Dec 1889, Greene Co, MO, w/o Calvin Bates Kitchell; burial unknown.
Margaret, b. 28 Jan 1830, d. bef 6 Dec 1882, Jennings Co, IN, w/o Richard Harsh; burial unknown.
