William (Bill) Meixner, 80, of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, died Monday, April 16, 2001, at Infinia Nursing Home in Owatonna. He was born September 17, 1920, in Lemond Township, Minnesota, the son of Anton and Francis (Haberman) Meixner. After attending Saco School in Lemond Township, William worked for area farms until he purchased his first farm in Deerfield Township. He married Hazel Gertje on April 8, 1949, at St. John Lutheran Church in Owatonna. They then moved to a farm in Summit Township where he farmed until he retired in 1985. Bill enjoyed playing cards, snowmobiling, and listening to the Minnesota Twins and old time polka music on the radio. He is survived by his wife, Hazel Meixner of Blooming Prairie, daughters, Susan and Daniel Jones of Salt Lake City, Utah, Sheila Meixner of Blooming Prairie, Sherry and James Harbal of Medford and Shelly and Timothy Simon of Ellendale; ten grandchildren; brother Myron Meixner of Owatonna; sisters Rosemary and Ernie Pichner of Claremont, and Jane and Bob Benson of Owatonna; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one sister. Funeral services were held Thursday, April 19, 2001, at St. John Lutheran Church in Owatonna with the Reverend Troy Stack-Nelson officiating. Burial was in the St. John Cemetery in Owatonna.
