He graduated from St. Bonaventure High School in 1945. George served in the U.S. Army/ Air Corp during WWII from 1945 - 1946. Following the service he returned to Columbus and worked at Behlen Manufacturing for 3 years. George then worked for the Bicycle Shop for 10 years before owning and operating Kneifel's Bicycle Shop until 1985. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, ham radios and computers.
