Funeral Services for Emil Hansen Held Here

Funeral services for Emil Hansen, a long time Creighton resident, who passed away at his home in Hollister, Calif. on July 25, were conducted at Hengstler's Chapel. The Rev. Duane Lenz, pastor of Evangelical United Brethren Church, Orchard, officiated. Burial was held Friday at Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were George Falter, Ivan Copeland, E.E. Jacobs, Otto Balleweg, Walter Andersen and Fred Hasenpflug.

Hans Emil Hansen was born on Aug. 5, 1883 in Dalum, Denmark. He came to America as a young man. On Nov. 16, 1909 he was united in marriage to Anna Sorensen of Winnetoon. To this union six children were born. Mrs. Hansen passed away in January of 1925. On Nov. 8, 1947, he was married to Mrs. Emma Hazen, her death occurring in April 1949.

For many years Mr. Hansen operated the Hansen Shoe Shop in Creighton. For the past several years he has made his home in California, near his son, Merton and family.

Preceding him in death, besides his parents and two wives, were two daughters, Helen, who died in infancy and Ruth Oltjenbruns, who died in May of 1946.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Jesse (Marie) Withee of Merna and Mrs. Donald (Anna Mae) Mitchell of Orchard; two sons, Gerald of Omaha and Merton of Hollister, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one brother, Albert of Portland, Ore. and two brothers and three sisters in Denmark.
