She was born in Darlington a daughter of the late Frank and Dora Capers Cherry. She was the widow of Rubin Foster, Sr. She received her formal education in the Darling-ton County public schools and was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church serving on the Usher Board, Choir and Kitchen Committee. She was employed by Dr. Robert Askins and Sarah Auman.
Survivors include: 2 daughters: Doretha Foster (Ethan) Lyde of Darlington and Ruby Foster (Johnnie) McElveen of Columbia; one son, Rubin Foster, Jr. of Darlington; 2 sisters: Margaret Poole and Bernetha Ervin both of Darlington; two brothers: Bobby (Loretta) Cherry of Darlington and Frank Harrison of Bishopville; 2 adopted sons: Brian Foster and Andre Foster; 3 grandchildren: Monica (Timothy) Foster-Keith, Tykeshia McElveen and Joshua McElveen; 2 great grands: Brandon and Breasia Keith; (she reared) Ethel Ross and James Foster; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Elouise C. McElveen, Ethel C. Durant, Rachel C. Russell, Mildred C. Workman, Willie Capers and Frank Cherry, Jr. The family is receiving friends at the residence, 104 Henry Street, Darling-ton.
