Born Jan. 28, 1928, in Danforth, she was the daughter of August and Wilhemina (Schroeder) Parbs. She married LaVerne Day Aug. 17, 1946, in Gilman and he died in 1995. LaVerne and Lorene farmed and had a registered dairy herd in Ogle and Stephenson County until 1971. Lorene worked at Micro Switch for 25 years retiring in 1995.
She enjoyed her grandchildren and puttering in the garden. Lorene was happiest when surrounded by her family. She was a member of Homemakers Extension Club and Quarter Century Club of Micro Switch.
Surviving are her son, Larry (Judy) Day of Scioto Mills; four grandchildren, Colleen Day of Boulder, Colorado, Michael (Pam) Day of Freeport, Lisa (randy) Johnson of Clinton, Iowa, and Corey (Marci) Short of Elgin; seven great grandchildren, Adam, Kelsey, and Matthew Day, Brian Day, Lucas and Randy Johnson, and Collin Short; her goddaughter, Sandy Henrichs.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two brothers.
A funeral service will be Tuesday, June 9, 2009, 1 p.m. at Walker Mortuary with the Rev. Lyle Babcock officiating. Burial will be at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 9, 2009, 11 a.m. until time of service at Walker Mortuary.
