Survivors include her daughter Karen (John) Vornholt of Sidney; grandchildren: Wayne (Amanda) Vornholt of Lansing, KS., Brad (Meredith) Vornholt of San Francisco, CA. and Stephanie (Mark) Opitz of Pittsburgh, PA.; great-grandchildren: Chloe Vornholt of Lansing, KS, Lauren and Chris Opitz of Pittsburgh; and her sister Betty Bushong of Lima.
Preceding her in death was her brother Hugh Katter.
Mrs. Miller was a member of the Christian Family Fellowship of Tipp City, OH and of First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville. She was a member of the Public Employee Retirees Inc. of Ohio and was active with the Sidney/Shelby Co. Blue Star Military Support Group. She was a 1939 graduate of the former Blume High School of Wapakoneta and graduated from the Northwestern Business College of Lima. She retired in 1984 from the Auglaize County Court House where she had been a Court Reporter. During WW II she was employed at the Lima Tank Plant and she and her husband spent their years together working the land and caring for their animals on their family farm. She was faithful to God and loved to read her Bible. She enjoyed planting and nurturing her flower gardens, spending time with and taking pictures of her family. She was an avid letter writer and was dedicated to sending letters or cards each and every week to her family and friends.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen with Pastor Tonya Shroyer officiating. Burial will be in the Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New Knoxville.
Calling hours will be on Friday, July 6 from 4 until 7 P.M. at the funeral home and on Saturday from 10:00 until the time of the services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dorothy Love Memorial Fund or to the Wilson Home Health and Hospice. Condolences may be left at gilberghartwigfh.com.
