Adam T. S. Main was born on 18 Oct 1859 in Crockham, England. He was left an orphan in early childhood while living in England. He came to America as a teenage boy and made his own way through the school of hard knocks.
As a young man he met and married Rachel Jackson of South Mountain, Canada.
To this union ten children were born:

He and his family moved to the Taloga community in 1899 to a farm 3 1/2 miles southwest of town.
"Daddy" Main as he was affectionately called was one of the community's most successful farmers. His friendly, cheerful disposition commanded the love and respect of all. His philosophy of life can be expressed in these words, "the supreme desire of my heart is not to be learned or good, but to be radiant and cheerful and kind to all whom I come in contact, seeing only good in them."
