Petronella Catharina Nijkiel Belt passed away at the age of 89 at the home she shared with her daughter and son-in-law on August 17, 2004 due to causes incident to age. Born Petronella Catharina Nijkiel to Peter Ignatz Nijkiel and Catharina Martina Visser on August 9, 1915 in Gouda, SH, The Netherlands. Married Jacobus Aloysius Belt (James A Belt) on October 18, 1939 in Leiden, SH, The Netherlands. Immigrated to the United States in February 1947 to be with the Saints in Zion. Sealed in the Salt Lake Temple June 25, 1948. Nellie was a faithful and cheerful servant for her Heavenly Father during her lifetime. She graciously endured to the end. She loved her church meetings and especially the hymns. Nellie and her husband, James, were ordinance workers for the Salt Lake Temple for numerous years. They enjoyed doing genealogy for their ancestors. She loved her position at the Genealogy Dept. for the LDS Church. Survived by her daughter, LuAnn, son-in-law, Bob Shaffer; three grandsons, Rob (Jessica), Jeremy (Tiffany), and Nicholas (Karissa) Shaffer; two great-grandsons, Drew and Jacob Shaffer. Preceded in death by her husband, sister, Rina, and her parents. Funeral services held Saturday, August 21, 2004 at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary Chapel, 1950 East 10600 South. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
