Cherry Rothe A. Madeline Cherry Rothe, 94, died on July 4, 2012 in Kirkland, WA. Born in West Chester, Cherry lived in Prospect Park for 62 years before moving to Kirkland in 2005. She was a graduate of West Chester High School, class of 1936 and the Lankenau Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1939. Cherry was an active member of Prospect Park United Methodist Church, where she served on many committees. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for many years and enjoyed caring for shut-ins. She was a member of the Margaret C. Vernon Court #71, Order of the Amaranth, Prospect Park since 1947 and twice served as Royal Matron and Royal Patron as well as Prospect Park Social Club, the Prospect Park Civic Club and the Holmes Leisure Club. Cherry had many interests including the symphony, the theater, sewing and gardening, but most important to her was helping others. Cherry enjoyed traveling within the U.S.A. and abroad, having visited London, China, the Pyramids in Egypt and the Holy Lands. Cherry was also a Five Gallon donor for the American Red Cross. She was wife of the late Lewis Rothe, her husband of 38 years, who died April 10, 1983; daughter of the late Norman and Bertha Guyer Brumbaugh Cherry; sister of the late Betty Talmage and Norman Cherry. Survivors: Cherry is survived by her daughters Cricket Luker, Robin Rothe and "Bunny" Schuelie (Larry); her sisters Sarah Hicks, Ruth Ring and Catherine Johnson; grandson Gregory Luker (Jenny) and great grandson Levi Thomas Luker. Funeral Service 11 AM Wednesday at White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park Calling in the funeral home after 10 AM. Burial Birmingham Lafayette Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry, 703 Lincoln Ave., Prospect Park, PA 19076.
