Gerda A. Giambelluca, 89, formerly of 263 State St., Jamestown, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2012, in Jamestown, with her loving daughter at her side.
Coming to the U.S. in 1948, she was born Nov. 25, 1922, in Schweinfurt, Germany, the daughter of the late Michael and Caroline Hup Keller.
In Germany, Gerda worked as a bookkeeper, and locally she worked at Ecklof's Bakery. She at-tended the former Concordia Lutheran Church, and was a former member of the German Club. Gerda enjoyed embroidery, baking and reading. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Surviving are two sons: Stewart Giambelluca and Scott Giambelluca, both of Las Vegas; a daughter, Linda (Paul S.) Calannio of Jamestown; six grandchildren: Tim (Missy) Allesi of Lebanon, Ohio, Todd (Jennifer) Allesi of Raleigh, N.C., Paul M. Calannio of Jamestown, Robert (Tonja) Giambelluca of Las Vegas, Matthew (Tes) Giambelluca of Texas, and Lisa Giambelluca of Las Vegas; seven great-grandchildren: Hannah and Adriana Allesi of Lebanon, Ohio, Hailey Giambelluca, Arianna Garcia and Ashley Brinkmeyer, all of Las Vegas, and Brandon and Chyanne Giambelluca of Texas; and a nephew, Jens (Karin) Kempf of Germany.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Giambelluca, whom she married Sept. 23, 1947, and who died Nov. 5, 1998; a sister, Erna Kempf; a brother, Fritz Keller; and a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Giambelluca.
