Mary Claudia Goerig, 80, of RT. 2, La Grange, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday night at Fayette Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. Harry Mazurkiewicz officiating. Burial will be in the La Grange Cemetery.

Mrs. Goerig was born August 5, 1910 in the Fayetteville area. She was the daughter of the late Anton and Mary Beran Kulhanek. She was united in marriage with Elo J. Goerig Sr., November 5, 1939 in Fayetteville. Mrs. Goerig was a member of the CDA, KJT, KJTZT and Altar Society.

Survivors include her husband, Elo J. Goerig, Sr.; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Ralph and Cathy Goerig, E. J. Goerig and Dennis and Kathy Goerig, all of La Grange; two sisters, Claudia Goerig of El Campo and Annie Kulhanek of Granger; four brothers, Lad an Anton Kulhanek of Columbus, Clarence Kulhanek of Houston and Edward Kulhanek of Pasadena; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

A parish, KJT, KJZT, Altar Society, CDA and K. of C. rosary will be recited Thursday at 7 PM at Sergeant Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.
