Catherine Caroline Nietfeld was born June 12, 1888 in Spring Hill Township in Stearns County, Minnesota. She married Joseph N. Miller on June 21, 1910 and the couple farmed in Section 36 of Spring Hill Township, Stearns County - approximately 2 miles east of the village of Spring Hill, Minn.

Catherine Miller died February 28, 1961 in Melrose, Minn at the age of 73 years. She was buried in St. Michael's Cemetery in Spring Hill, Minn.

The children of Joe and Catherine Miller are:
- Fr. Henry Miller OSC,
- Fr. Joseph Miller, OSC,
- Mathias "Math" Miller,
- Sr. Mary Gordian Miller, OSB,
- Armella Eveslage,
- Leona Mehr
- Julianna Miller.

The couple lost one infant son and three infant daughters.

District School #133 was located on the east line of Section 35 of Spring Hill Township. The property was part of the Miller farm and the school was referred to as the "Miller School."
