DENISON, Iowa -- Nadine Stender, 78, of Holstein, Iowa, formerly of Denison, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home in Holstein, Iowa.
Services were Saturday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.
Nadine Ann Stender was born on Jan. 27, 1934, the daughter of Charles and Mildred Remmes Wilson. Nadine was born in Dunlap, Iowa. She attended Denison Community Schools and graduated with the class of 1950. Following graduation, she began working at Denison Drug until it closed in the early 1980s. She then worked for Crawford County Auditor and in the mid-1990s, she worked for Huebner Funeral Home.
On Feb. 24, 1968, Nadine was united in marriage to Harold Stender in Omaha. The couple made their home in Denison.
Nadine was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, where she served as an usher for many years, and was on the board at WESCO. She was very social and loved to bowl, golf and play cards with friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Pam Wilson; one sister, Rita O'Neill and her husband, Mike; and nephews and nieces, Mary O'Neill, Lori Lonneman, Sean O'Neill, Jill Smith, Tari Croy, Shannon Gebers, Erin Gleason and Ryan O'Neill.
Nadine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; her brother, Jim Wilson; and one nephew, Kevin O'Neill.
