Russell Duane Klitzke, age 81, passed away Friday, July 13, 2012 at the Grisell Memorial Hospital, Ransom, Kansas. He was born November 22, 1930 on the farm in Ness County, Kansas to Walter A. and Neva VanHorn Klitzke.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Ransom. He was an avid bowler and was a member of the Snodgrass Trucking Bowling team. He also loved baseball and for a time was a member of the Hays Eagles Fast Pitch Softball team. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

On June 17, 1951 he married Gwendolyn Stowe in Ransom. She survives,of the home. Other survivors include two sons, Rex and his wife Cheryl and Rich and his wife Teri Klitzke, all of Ransom; three daughters, Joy Simonson and her husband Steve, Ransom, Bonita Slocombe and her husband John, Manhattan, and Jill Becker and her husband Scott), Garden City; one brother, Max Klitzke, Ellis; one sister, Jean Patterson, Fritch, Texas; 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Chet Klitzke.

Funeral Service will be Monday, July 16, 2012, 11:00 A.M. at the United Methodist Church, Ransom with burial in the Ransom Cemetery. Friends may call at Fitzgerald Funeral Home on Saturday from 4:30 until 9:00 PM and Sunday from 10:00 A.M. until 9:00 PM with the family present from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. Contributions may be given to the Grisell Memorial Hospital or the United Methodist Church both of Ransom
