Charles was the son of Henry Schoellen and Mary Marso. He married Mary Pfeffer. They were the parents of Maurine (1913), Charles (1916), Beatrice, and Richard Henry (1923).

April 29, 1954 - Kossuth County Advance - Mr. and Mrs. Mike Bormann, Mr. and Mrs. K.L. Kohlhaas and Mr. and Mrs. John Thul attended the funeral services in Sacred Heart church, Ft. Dodge, last Wednesday morning for Charles John Schoellen. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery.
