Services for George Pueppka, 89, who died in Casper, Wyoming, Feb. 25, 1984, were held in the Schrader-Prell Funeral Chapel in Wheatland at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 28, 1984, with the Reverend James Hicks officiating.
George John Pueppka was born June 6, 1894, in Nebraska. The son of Edward and Kate Pueppka spent his early years in Nebraska before entering the U.S. Army during World War I. After being discharged from military duty he returned to Nebraska and operated the family farm with his father. He met and married Marie Cunningham.
The couple moved to Scottsbluff during the second World War where he became associated with his brother-in-law in a trucking business.
George, his wife and daughter moved to Douglas, Wyoming where he operated the Co-op filling station. They remained in Douglas for nine years, moved to Scottsbluff for a short time and then moved to Wheatland twenty-nine years ago and purchased the Sunset Court Motel which they operated until retirement several years ago.
He was a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his daughter Berdena Pueppka of Wheatland, his brother, Clarence Pueppka of Sutherland, Nebraska, and four sisters; Elsie Houk of Scottsbluff, Ada Miller of Dix, Nebraska, Marjie Carmichael of Denver, Colorado and Anna Sudman of Sarden, Nebraska.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother and sister.
A memorial in his name has been established to the Platte County Senior Citizens Center.
Burial was in the Wheatland Cemetery.
Schrader-Prell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
