He started as owner of Fontanesi corner grocery store in Duquesne & later became self-employed carpet cleaner in the Norwin area. He was a member & Sunday School teacher of the Christian Life Church of Trafford, prior to that Deacon & Elder in the Assembly of God Church. In addition to parents, preceded in death by his first wife Edith Fontanesi & nine brothers & sisters. Beloved wife of Martha Wampler Fontanesi; father of Ronald (Charloette) Fontanesi of Coraopolis, Kenneth (Dianne) Fontanesi of Annapolis, MD, Robert (Roxanne) Fontanesi of Greensburg; grandfather of Cindy Borchert, Mollie Duffy, Suzanne Ross & Brent Fontanesi; great-grandfather of Rose Duffy.
